Obvious Signs Of Alcohol Abuse

Alcohol abuse is a serious threat to your health and the health of the people around you. If you don't get help for the abuse you can get sick and eventually die. Thankfully, there are plenty of treatments available to people who are dealing with the effects of alcohol abuse.

Alcohol and drug abuse has many signs, and most of them are obvious. The first sign of course is drinking. Many abusers smell like alcohol and you will find lots of alcohol in the house. Someone who abuses alcohol will often appear cranky, sleep a lot, and have anger issues. The person may get into trouble due to their alcohol abuse like having a DUI on their driving record or being caught drunk at work.

Other signs of alcohol abuse are more subtle. The abuser may be unable to concentrate, seem lethargic and also seem distracted. The abuser might have blackouts and not remember certain things he said or did. Blackouts are serious as they are signs of beginning brain damage.

If you are abusing alcohol, you need alcohol abuse treatment right away. Most people are unable to overcome their abuse without some sort of help, be it going to AA meetings or going to rehab. You need support to stop drinking because it is both a physical and mental addiction.

Your body will ache when you stop drinking. You might experience tremors, extreme cramps, vomiting and more. It helps to be in a medical setting when you are trying to stop drinking. A physician can help you with the physical aspects of your withdrawal, while therapists can help you with the mental aspects of your addiction. You can also get emotional support from other people who are going through rehab with you. Patient support can be healing.
