Effects Of Abusing Marijuana Illegally or Medicinally

Many people smoke marijuana and do not believe that they are abusing a drug.  They liken their use to that of others smoking cigarettes.  While in some places marijuana use is legal, there are still a great many places that it is illegal to smoke pot.

The most common effect of smoking pot is a feeling of relaxation and feeling a highness.  These good effects are offset by the side effects of impaired motor skills and short term memory loss.  Dry mouth and red eyes are often commonly reported as well.

While there are many people that abuse pot and can not function well, either with or without pot, there are others that use the marijuana to function.  These people are the ones that have been prescribed medical marijuana.  Marijuana has been found to be helpful for some patients that have been diagnosed with cancer.

There still remains a great debate as to whether these effects truly help the patient.  Many authorities believe that there are too many potential side effects, and that it is too difficult to regulate.  There are many studies that are attempting to prove our disprove various theories about the use of marijuana.

It will be between the patient and their doctor as to whether or not they believe pot could have a beneficial effect.  For those people that are using pot recreationally, then it will have to be a chance that they take as to whether or not they are caught in an area where marijuana is illegal.  Until marijuana can be regulated in a way such as tobacco or alcohol, it will probably never be legal for use in all areas.  As with any drug use, the user will have to weigh the pros and the cons to determine whether or not the risks are worth it.
