Methylphenidate Addiction And Dangers

Methylphenidate is better known by the name Ritalin. Ritalin is a common prescription drug used to treat ADHD. For the most part, it is a very safe drug but it is not without its side effects and issues. Some common issues are anxiety, flushed skin, insomnia, high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack. As you can see, Ritalin has some serious side effects and is a drug that should be used with extreme caution. It is a drug that you shouldn't play around with because it can seriously harm you or your children. Take caution with all drug use.

Some Will Not Listen

Some people just won't listen to the warnings that are given and will abuse these drugs no matter what. With ADHD medication, people who don't even have ADHD use them as a party drug and as a study aid. This can often lead to addiction and/or other serious health issues. This article is more about addiction than the health risk that abuse and that even suggested use can cause. We will focus on the subset of people who use Methlyphenidate as a party drug, as an unprescribed study aid and as the drug they are addicted to.

Drug addiction comes in many forms, a person can become addicted to Ritalin, just like they can to any other drug. With any form of addiction, your best bet to get better and to beat your addiction is to seek the help of a professional drug abuse center. Realize that you have a substance abuse issue, that you aren't qualified to fix it on your own and that there are professionals who make their living helping substance abuse patients get better.
